Blue Food Futures Fellows research critical questions about blue foods, filling knowledge gaps and providing actionable insights for global food and climate initiatives.

We are accepting applications for 2026 Blue Food Futures Fellows. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting Oct 31, 2025 until the position is filled.

The Blue Food Futures Fellowship empowers early-career researchers dedicated to advancing the role of blue foods in global food systems transformation. This program strengthens the link between science, policy, and action in blue food research, supporting innovative ideas that address pressing challenges in food, climate, nature, and social equity.

Fellows receive a six-month research stipend based at their home institution to support place-based research and policy engagement. They also receive mentorship from global blue food experts and potential opportunities to present research at international scientific and policy fora. Over the course of the grant program, fellows will connect with a global network of blue food researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.

Additional
details

This fellowship will be conducted at the fellow’s existing research institution. The fellow must be available for virtual meetings with the research team and program partners that are geographically distributed, which may include hours outside of a regular workday in a given location.

This position is for a six-month fixed term, with an anticipated requirement of approximately 10 hours per week.
